What's It Like Being a TinySeed Founder?

Now that applications are open for TinySeed’s second batch, we thought it would be useful to share some podcast appearances by current TinySeed founders and the TinySeed team.

Startups For the Rest of Us

TinySeed’s co-founder Rob Walling hosts Startups For the Rest of Us, and it’s a great way to see how Rob works with the batch and his general mentorship process.

A good episode to start with would be Episode 420, when Rob brings Einar onto the show and they talk about starting TinySeed:

Episode 420 | An Alternative Form of Startup Funding
In this episode of Startups For The Rest Of Us, Rob and Einar Vollset talk about their alternative form of startup funding, TinySeed. They talk about why they started an accelerator, and some of the key differentiators that separates them from typical accelerators. Listen here

TinySeed Tales

Season 1 of this series focuses on the journey of a TinySeed founder as they build their startup during their year in the accelerator.

Season one focuses on Craig Hewitt of Castos listen to Season 1 here.

Slow & Steady

Hosted by TinySeed founder Benedikt Deicke (Userlist) along with Brian Rhea, and a recent episode covered Userlist’s acceptance into the accelerator.

Userlist is a TinySeed 2020 Company!
Benedikt shares the big news that Userlist is part of the TinySeed 2020 batch! Userlist also shipped in-app messaging and launched a new pricing tier. Brian shares that the Mozilla job offer will probably be rescinded as a result of COVID-19 and wonders about the best path forward.

Bootstrapped.fm

We particularly recommend this episode where Craig Hewitt of Castos (mentioned above) talks about the experience of applying for, and being in, the first TinySeed cohort.

#111: “Should I apply for TinySeed?” with Craig Hewitt, founder of Castos
To help me answer the question, “Should I apply for TinySeed?”, Craig tells me what it has been like for him. We discuss why he applied, how it has changed his business so far, and what unexpected benefits there are have been.

Out of Beta

This podcast is hosted by TinySeed founders Matt Wensing (Summit) and Peter Suhm (Branch). While TinySeed is mentioned throughout the podcast, Episode 11 in particular focuses on being accepted into TinySeed.

1.1 (the nomenclature)
Matt and Peter introduce themselves, how they met, and their startups (Summit & Branch), which are are both part of the TinySeed 2019 remote accelerator program.

Rogue Startups

This podcast is hosted by TinySeed founder Craig Hewitt (Castos) along with Dave Rodenbaugh. There are two episodes we specifically recommend that involve TinySeed:

RS175: Castos Joins TinySeed, and the NoCode Movement
In today’s episode, we discuss a variety of topics, including Craig’s Castos getting accepted into TinySeed and the growing No-Code movement.

RS186: Inside TinySeed with Bryan Marble from ClientRock
This week Craig catches up with fellow TinySeed founder Bryan Marble from ClientRock. Bryan is a multi time SaaS founder in the legal tech space and is growing out his second app as part of the inaugural TinySeed cohort. Craig and Bryan talk through the ups and downs of being part of a remote accelerator, managing stress, and how they think about growth planning differently.

The Art of Product

This podcast is run by TinySeed founder Derrick Reimer (StaticKit), and has had a few episodes involving TinySeed:

101: Mentorship Momentum with Matt Wensing of SimSaaS
While Ben’s on vacation, Derrick welcomes Matt Wensing, founder of SimSaaS (now Summit) and co-host of the Out of Beta podcast. Matt was also the co-founder and CEO of Stormpulse. Derrick credits Matt for giving him great advice to make the winding down of Level less daunting. Now, Derrick’s on the upswing of rebuilding his confidence, despite challenging cluster headaches and stress cannibalising productivity.

66: TinySeed Updates with Rob Walling
Ben and Derrick are joined by Rob Walling to share updates - their favorite part of most podcasts! It’s been a good week in Tuple marketing land. Thanks to Ben’s tweet announcing the release date for its alpha, his launch list goal was reached. He was surprised by how willing people were to help out when he asked them to do it. Rob is working on TinySeed, a startup accelerator for bootstrappers. Derrick provided a pre-order update on Level and plans to do direct outreach to those who ordered it to determine their level of interest for validation.

The Effective Founder

Several TinySeed founders, in addition to Rob Walling, have been guests on this entrepreneurship podcast.

Most recently, Rob was on the podcast to talk about MicroConf, the State of Indie SaaS survey, and his work here:
Rob Walling of TinySeed & MicroConf

And two TinySeed founders (David Heller and Craig Hewitt) were on to talk about their companies and joining the accelerator:
David Heller of Reimbi
Craig Hewitt of Castos

We hope that’s helpful!
